Women were limited to almost everything back in the 1900’s. Me and my partner, being females, are highly grateful for this amendment passed in 1920. When we found out that the theme was ‘Turning Points in History’ we knew that this topic was perfect. America’s electorate was changed this day. This topic has a lot of background to it, making it a more than interesting topic, and amazing topic. Without this amendment, women would not be able to do most things they do today. One of the most important things being voted, it was definitely needed. The brave woman that stood up for all women nationwide is truly an inspiration to the both of us.
Seeing this was a fairly broad topic, we decided to narrow down our research to the making of the amendment, and not much of the backstory. We decided it would be nice to focus on the most dramatic event, getting everyone in government to agree on the amendment. We also wanted to focus on the hard work put into this amendment to be passed. While conducting our research, we came across a timeline of the time it took to get the amendment fully approved. We also found the actual document stating the guidelines of the amendment. It was definitely a big help, looking at these kinds of sources.
While pondering on which kind of project we should do and how we should present our information, we decided to do an exhibit. We thought that we should think outside of the box, so we began to make a virtual exhibit instead, making it more creative and technological. We chose Prezi for our presentation, knowing it was more professional and presentable. Knowing we were creative, this was a great way to present our information to our audience. Plus, it would be more fun and not like the regular exhibits.
Our project definitely showcases a turning point in history very well. Like we said in the beginning, without this amendment many women wouldn’t be able to do what they do today. Women in the 1900’s were limited to voting and other stuff that men could do and they weren’t allowed to. When a brave woman stood up for all women nationwide, this was changed. America was not expecting this, and it was a big deal. Women’s suffrage was definitely a shocker.
